ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Tax Compliance & Filing Administration
• Prepare selected tax filings, with a particular focus on multi-state sales and use tax compliance.
• Utilize SAP, BNA, and other tax systems to gather, analyze, and reconcile information required for tax filings.
• Review and maintain Forms W-8BEN-E and support applicable withholding and information reporting requirements, including Form 1042.
• Ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations and policies.
• External Tax Advisor Coordination
• Gather and provide financial and tax information required by external tax advisors to prepare income tax returns, tax provisions, and other filings.
• Review externally prepared tax returns and workpapers for reasonableness, completeness, and consistency with Company records.
• Track open items and coordinate follow-up with internal teams and external advisors.
• Tax Research & Planning Support
• Monitor tax developments and assist in evaluating potential impacts to the Company.
• Identify tax matters requiring further review and coordinate with Finance management and external tax advisors.
• Support tax planning and other special tax projects as needed.
• Tax Accounting & Financial Reporting
• Support quarterly and annual income tax provision processes and estimated tax payments.
• Provide FP&R team with tax forecasting and Treasury team cash tax payment planning.
• Prepare tax-related journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
• Assist with book-to-tax differences, fixed asset tax depreciation, and other tax accounting activities.
• Tax Audits, Notices & Cross-Functional Support
• Assist with federal, state, and sales/use tax audits and examinations.
• Review routine tax notices and coordinate responses with external tax advisors as appropriate.
• Work with Accounting, FP&R, AP, AR, HR, Legal, and other departments to obtain information and resolve tax-related matters.
• Tax Administration & Controls
• Maintain the tax calendar, track open tax matters, and monitor filing, payment, and other statutory deadlines.
• Maintain tax records, online tax accounts, registrations, sales tax exemption certificates, and supporting documentation.
• Assist with maintaining effective tax processes and internal controls.
• Confidentiality & Ethics
• Exercise a high degree of confidentiality and discretion, particularly with access to sensitive company and personnel information.
• Positions that fall under the functions of Product Development, Legal, HR, IT and Executive Management are required to exercise a higher-level confidentiality and discretion in handling information the positions have access to.
• Provide support toward the certification and ensure compliance to customer required quality management systems (TISAX, TS16949, IATF, etc..)
OTHER DUTIES
• All other duties as assigned.
• Ensure punctual attendance per defined work schedule and comply with the attendance policy for time reporting, break periods, and overtime, if applicable.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
• Supervision is typically received from the Finance Accounting Manager.
SUPERVISION ADMINISTERED
• This position does not require the supervision of staff.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE AND/OR TRAINING
• Bachelor's degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• 2–4 years of tax, accounting, or related experience within a corporation or public accounting firm.
• Experience with sales/use tax, federal or state tax compliance preferred.
• Working knowledge of accounting for income taxes under U.S. GAAP.
• Global company and multi-currency operation experience.
• Experience with accounting systems like SAP and tax reporting software is preferred.
• Automotive manufacturing experience is a plus.
