Your personal sphere of influence and academic environment: The Department of Intercultural Philosophy of Religion at the Faculty of Catholic Theology at the University of Vienna is seeking to fill a pre-doctoral position 30 hours / limited to 4 years (start date preferably mid October to early November). In addition to the philosophy of religion, the department’s core research areas include philosophical anthropology and the history of philosophy. The department actively participates in research focused on intercultural, comparative, and global philosophy. Teaching includes introductions to the fundamental disciplines of philosophy, with a special focus on the contributions of religious traditions of thought. Your future tasks: You will actively participate in research, teaching, and administration, which means: Participating in research projects and scientific studies Contributing to publications, scientific articles, and presentations, such as conducting literature reviews, proofreading, formatting, and compiling bibliographies You are expected to sign a dissertation agreement within 12–18 months Participating in and independently conducting courses, where possible, in accordance with the provisions of the collective bargaining agreement Student advising Assisting with the organization of meetings, conferences, and symposia Participating in departmental, teaching, and research administration, such as helping to maintain the department’s website, providing support for the Moodle e-learning platform, and assisting with exam preparation and administration This is part of your personality / profile: Diploma's / Master’s degree in (Catholic) Theology or Philosophy Strong written and oral communication skills Excellent command of German Good written and spoken English Basic computer skills Ability to work well in a team What we offer: An inspiring work environment : You’ll be part of a small, dedicated research team with excellent research infrastructure. Initially limited to 1.5 years, the employment relationship is automatically extended to 4 years if the employer does not terminate it within the first 12 months by submitting a non-extension declaration. The base salary of EUR 3,776.10 gross ["brutto"] (based on full-time; 14 payments per year) in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement will increase if we can take your professional experience into account.
