The Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading and coordinating all maintenance activities for asphalt plants and ready-mix concrete plants across the North Texas Business Unit, East Texas Ready Mix operations, and associated Louisiana facilities within the respective operating areas. This position provides strategic leadership and technical expertise to ensure plant reliability, maximize equipment uptime, support operational efficiency, and maintain compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. The Maintenance Manager partners closely with plant managers, operations leaders, and regional management to develop and execute preventive maintenance programs, capital improvement initiatives, and equipment reliability strategies that support business objectives. Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions) Safety Leadership Promote and enforce a culture of safety across all plant maintenance activities. Ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA/MSHA regulations, lockout/tagout procedures, and environmental requirements. Conduct safety observations, audits, and incident investigations as necessary. Develop corrective actions and ensure timely implementation. Maintenance Management Oversee the maintenance and repair of all asphalt production facilities and ready-mix concrete plants within assigned regions. Develop, implement, and manage preventive and predictive maintenance programs. Establish maintenance schedules that minimize production interruptions and maximize equipment reliability. Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for continuous improvement. Coordinate emergency repairs and provide support during equipment breakdowns. Standardize maintenance practices across all locations. Asset Reliability & Continuous Improvement Drive reliability improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and maintenance costs. Utilize maintenance metrics and performance data to identify trends and improvement opportunities. Lead root cause analysis efforts for recurring equipment failures. Develop and implement long-term asset management strategies. Support operational excellence initiatives and plant modernization efforts. Capital Projects & Budget Management Assist in developing annual maintenance and capital expenditure budgets. Manage maintenance spending and ensure efficient utilization of resources. Identify, recommend, and oversee capital improvement projects. Coordinate equipment installations, upgrades, and plant expansion projects. Ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget. Team Leadership Provide leadership, coaching, and development for maintenance personnel. Assist in recruiting, training, and retaining skilled maintenance employees. Establish performance expectations and accountability standards. Support employee development through technical training and succession planning. Vendor & Contractor Management Manage relationships with equipment manufacturers, vendors, and contractors. Negotiate service agreements and maintenance contracts as appropriate. Ensure contractors comply with all company safety and operational requirements. Evaluate vendor performance and identify cost-saving opportunities. Operational Support Partner with Plant Managers, Operations Managers, and Area Leadership to support production goals. Participate in winter maintenance planning and seasonal readiness activities. Provide technical expertise and troubleshooting support during operational challenges. Support quality initiatives and ensure equipment operates within production specifications. Regulatory Compliance Ensure compliance with environmental permits and applicable regulations. Maintain required maintenance records, inspection reports, and documentation. Support regulatory inspections and audits as required. Qualifications Education/Experience Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, Construction Management, or related field preferred. Minimum 7-10 years of industrial maintenance experience. Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience in asphalt, aggregates, ready-mix, heavy manufacturing, or related industries. Demonstrated experience managing multiple facilities and maintenance teams. Experience with asphalt plant operations and ready-mix plant equipment strongly preferred. Knowledge/Skills Strong mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic troubleshooting abilities. Knowledge of asphalt production equipment, ready-mix batching systems, conveyors, burners, silos, motors, and process controls. Strong leadership and organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities across geographically dispersed operations. Proficiency with maintenance management systems (CMMS). Strong budgeting, planning, and project management skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to analyze data and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Work Requirements Frequent travel throughout North Texas, East Texas, and Louisiana operations. Ability to respond to emergency maintenance situations outside normal business hours. Ability to work flexible schedules as operational demands require. Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record. Physical Requirements Ability to walk, climb stairs, ladders, and access elevated work areas. Ability to work around moving equipment and machinery. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods. Work Environment Regular exposure to asphalt plants, ready-mix facilities, maintenance shops, and construction environments. Exposure to varying weather conditions, dust, noise, vibration, and moving mechanical equipment. Appropriate PPE required at all times while in plant and operational environments.
