This role is based in Malta which is recognised for its robust regulatory framework for payments and virtual financial assets.

ONE.io was founded in 2017 as an OTC digital asset trading desk, serving high-net-worth individuals, corporates, and institutional clients globally. Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced IT / Technology Manager to lead and oversee the technology operations of our Payment Institution (PI) and CASP (licenses pending). This role is critical in ensuring the reliability, security, scalability, and regulatory compliance of our systems, supporting payment services, e-money issuance, and financial operations.
The successful candidate will manage IT infrastructure, cybersecurity, and vendor relationships while aligning with the group technology strategy and supporting business and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Technology Strategy & Leadership
• Support IT and technology strategies aligned with business objectives and PI and CASP regulatory requirements
• Support digital transformation initiatives and continuous system improvements
• Collaborate with senior leadership on technology planning and innovation
• Collaborate with internal departments including Engineering, Product, Compliance, Risk, and Operations
IT Operations & Infrastructure
• Oversee day-to-day IT operations, including networks, servers, cloud infrastructure, and end-user support
• Ensure high availability, performance, and scalability of systems supporting payment processing and customer platforms, in line with DORA requirements
• Manage disaster recovery planning and business continuity processes
• Oversee systems related to payment processing, e-wallets, and transaction monitoring
• Ensure integration and reliability of APIs, banking partners, and third-party providers
• Support fraud prevention and AML (Anti-Money Laundering) systems
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
• Establish, support and maintain robust cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., DORA, ISO 27001, NIST)
• Ensure data protection, encryption, and secure access controls
• Conduct regular risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies
Regulatory Compliance
• Ensure compliance with relevant PI and CASP regulations (e.g., MFSA requirements, PSD2, GDPR) and with DORA requirements
• Support audits and regulatory reporting requirements
• Maintain documentation of systems, controls, and policies
Skills and Experience
Experience & Skills
• Proven experience in IT/Technology management, preferably within fintech, banking, PI or CASP environments
• Strong understanding of payment systems, e-money platforms, and financial infrastructure
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and frameworks
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements (PSD2, GDPR, MiCA)
Technical Expertise
• Infrastructure management (networks, servers, cloud environments)
• API integrations and microservices architecture
• Cybersecurity tools and monitoring systems
• Database management and system performance optimisation
Leadership & Soft Skills
• Strong leadership and team management abilities
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, regulated environment
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field
• Relevant certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, ITIL, AWS/Azure certifications) are highly desirable
• Experience working within a regulated PI, financial institution or CASP
