About this role

Salary: £50,000 - 58,000 per year

Requirements: Minimum 4 years of infrastructure experience, with at least 1 year in a similar senior capacity or performing senior duties within a team of engineers with a support background.Excellent Active Directory and associated services skills.Experience across a broad variety of classic infrastructure disciplines and technologies, including network, Windows Server, storage, virtualisation, security, and mail services.Experience of team supervision or mentoring would be an advantage.High level of knowledge of Office 365 applications, security, and tools.Excellent Microsoft Exchange skills, ideally in a hybrid solution.Previous experience designing and leading the implementation of infrastructure solutions.Experience using infrastructure auto-deployment and scripting techniques such as PowerShell and Ansible.Experience developing and documenting technical solutions.Proactive and logical approach to fault identification, troubleshooting, and problem solving.Working knowledge of ITIL.Knowledge of network technologies, including LAN/WAN components, routing, and protocols.Understanding of cloud computing platforms, principles, and services.Knowledge of zero-trust solutions, VPN, SSO setup, PIM, and MFA solutions.Knowledge of perimeter and endpoint security solutions, SWEG, web access, and anti-malware configuration.Experience with Microsoft Windows Server OS, updating, and upgrading; Linux experience is an advantage.Knowledge of backup and recovery design and testing.Experience mitigating infrastructure and operating system security vulnerabilities.Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 platform support, including SharePoint, OneDrive, Teams, and Intune management.Experience working within a ticket management system with SLA and KPI adherence.Certification or working experience supporting or implementing infrastructure technologies listed in the ad would be an advantage. Responsibilities: We support the Infrastructure Support Manager in delivering robust, performant, resilient, and recoverable infrastructure and systems across on-premises and Azure environments.We provide hands-on technical leadership within the infrastructure team, promoting technical excellence, quality, and knowledge transfer.We use our expertise in classic infrastructure disciplines, technologies, and best practices to drive deployment and management of on-premises infrastructure.We ensure infrastructure assets and interfaces have appropriate monitoring, alerts, backups, and recovery plans in place.We support aspects of the Azure platform and collaborate closely with the cloud platform team.We deliver best-of-breed 3rd line support, managing tickets and issues efficiently and to the expected quality within SLA.We stay aware of enhancements within current infrastructure solutions and technology shifts that benefit the business.We work cross-functionally with Project, Development, Cloud Platform, and SecOps teams for new deployments and ongoing maintenance.We support the development of disaster recovery plans and maintain operational resilience within our infrastructure remit.We lead technical evaluation of products within the infrastructure domain and participate in deployment and implementation.We contribute to the technical design of infrastructure solutions, using industry best practice.We work with SecOps engineers to remediate vulnerabilities identified within our remit. We are Acorn and we are looking for a passionate Senior Infrastructure Engineer to join our hands-on, multi-disciplined technical support team within IT infrastructure support and 3rd line escalation. This is a permanent, full-time role based at our Liverpool City Centre HQ, with a salary of £50,000-£58,000 per annum depending on experience. The role offers the opportunity to work across on-premises and Azure environments, supporting technical development of the internal infrastructure team, maintaining best practice and standards, and helping ensure all platforms are secure and meet legislative compliance requirements.
