Job summary We have an exciting opportunity for an Adult Speech & Language Therapy Assistant to join our team at Farnham Hospital, working 37.5 hours per week. In this role, you will work closely with our Speech & Language Therapist to support adults with a range of acquired neurological conditions. You will play a key part in delivering high-quality, patient-centred care, assisting with therapy programmes, and helping individuals to improve their communication and swallowing abilities. Main duties of the job As an Adult Speech & Language Therapy Assistant at Farnham Hospital, you will assist in providing support and delivering therapy programmes to adults with acquired neurological conditions. This role involves collaborating closely with a team of professionals, participating in the delivery of individual and group therapy, and ensuring the maintenance of accurate records. You will also provide education sessions and be required to perform community visits across multiple sites. Essential skills include good communication, IT proficiency, and flexibility, along with a full UK driving license.

To ensure that up to date written electronic records and activity are maintained in accordance with the professional and organisation standards To provide education sessions to patients and their families/carers and external organisations under the guidance of a speech and language therapist To participate in the delivery of the therapy programme both individual and group provision To demonstrate ongoing personal development through participation in internal and external development opportunities To prioritise clinical work and balance other patient related and professional activities as the department requires. To understand the core principles of capacity and consent to treatment and apply this to practice To implement therapy within a range of settings including community wards, outpatient clinics, nursing homes and patients own home.Please see the job description attached for full list.
Ideal CandidateEssential
GCSE English Grade C or above (or equivalent) Excellent IT skills To work independently and as part of a team Good written and verbal communication skills To be able to adapt written and verbal to account patient level of understanding To be flexible in approach and be responsive to changing demands Able to prioritise/time manage To self- evaluate performance, completing set programmes independently and seek advice as appropriate To gather, analyse and evaluate clinical information with supervision To identify risk and how to minimise its effects upon individuals safety To contribute in team meetings and clinical discussions Full UK drivers license and access to vehicleWhile not essential, we would welcome applicants who have an understanding of the range of Speech and Language Therapy provided to adults with acquired neurological conditions, as well as the role of the SLT Assistant within the NHS. Experience of paid or voluntary work with a relevant client group is desirable, alongside experience of working within a multidisciplinary team. Familiarity with using AAC or other therapy apps would also be advantageous.
