Position Description: Manages a section in a department that has institutional oversight. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the section. Represents the section to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.

Major/Essential Functions: • Provides leadership to maintain, troubleshoot and install, inspect, test and maintain life safety systems (fire alarm, fire sprinkler, and elevators). Oversees installation, modification and repairs new and existing fire sprinkler systems, and fire alarm system. • Reporting to State Fire Marshal and yearly documentation for accreditations. Work side by side with the local Fire Marshal to generate and maintain reporting to the State Fire Marshal. Generate and maintain all accreditation documentation related to Integrated Safety Systems. Inspect and Certify/Recertify Fire Extinguishers institution-wide. • Provide SME direction and input for life safety systems for Design & Construction Projects. Review submittals, drawings, and overall design of every TTEP Project to include TTU System FP&C managed projects. • Works with other trades and maintenance staff to complete maintenance and installation of other building systems (Fire Alarm, and Sprinkler Systems). • Prepares and submits work documentation, to include work order submission, changes to system (e.g. directories), etc. • Performs all preventive maintenance on assigned systems and equipment. • Contributes with knowledge and performs skilled labor required for the completion of institutional construction and renovation projects. • Coordinates and assists with construction and external service work internally or by others. • Services fire alarm system including but not limited to: containing, annunciation, monitoring of devices (i.e., smoke detectors, fire sprinklers, fire alarm pull boxes, etc.). Oversees installation of new or existing pull stations, flow switches, smoke detectors, heat detectors, and tamper switches. • Responsible for keeping all work areas, equipment and tools clean and in excellent working condition. Responds to emergency calls to correct or remediate the problem in a timely and effective manner. • Oversee and manage Physical Access Control; Card readers and badge issuing/access. Lockshop, issuing keys, locksmith, institutional standards for door hardware in accordance with codes and standards. Campus security camera design, installation, maintenance and operation in accordance with TTUHSC EPPD standards and TTU System standards. • Perform all other duties as assigned. • Remains current with all licensures, certifications and mandatory compliances and trainings required of this position. • Adhere to all policies, procedures and practices (Regents Rules, TTUS, HSECEP OPs, etc.). • Personally, and consistently, demonstrate, display and act in accordance with Texas Tech Health El Paso’s Values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork). Serve as a Value's leader while actively promoting and encouraging staff across the institution. • Required to maintain current and valid State of Texas Driver's License and be listed as an approved driver as determined by Risk Management and insurance carrier. In accordance with Texas Executive Order GA-48 and applicable state or federal law, this position may involve access to, work on, or conducting research involving critical infrastructure as defined by Texas Business & Commerce Code §117.001(2) (formerly Texas Business & Commerce Code § 113.001(2)). If this position is determined to relate to critical infrastructure, please be advised that it will require periodic reviews and background checks after hiring, which will include but are not limited to, criminal history and other security-related screenings that will continue for the duration of your employment in that position. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree plus four years of supervisory experience OR a combination of education and/or years of supervisory experience to equal a minimum of 8 years.

Preferred Qualifications: • Fire Alarm Superintendent License • Texas Fire Alarm License • Texas Fire Extinguisher License • NICET Fire Alarm Systems (I, II, or III) • NICET Inspection and Testing of Water Based Systems • Texas Security License • Gamewell-FCI Certification
