Job Description: The Operations Intern will support their area in ensuring the smooth operation of all Manufacturing and Production. The selected individual will gain hands-experience in a fast-paced steel manufacturing environment, supporting daily production and operations initiatives at U.S. Steel. This role provides exposure to manufacturing processes, safety, processes and practices, workforce coordination, and continuous improvement projects while developing practical skills in operations management, problem-solving, and industrial leadership. Interns work alongside experienced operations professionals to help drive efficiency, quality and performance across the facility.

Key Responsibilities: • Support daily production activities by applying basic engineering, business and problem-solving principles to improve operational efficiency. • Assist operations and maintenance teams with data collection, process analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives. • Observe and learn production processes while working alongside experienced supervisors, technicians and operators. • Participate in safety, quality, and productivity projects to support departmental objectives. • Collaborate with production, maintenance, engineering and other plant personnel to gain exposure to manufacturing operations. • Attend training sessions and developmental assignments to build knowledge of steel manufacturing processes and operations management. Requirements: • Candidates must be a full-time student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree or Master’s Degree in Engineering, Business, Manufacturing, or another related field. • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work well in a team environment. • Familiarity with safety protocols and willingness to follow safety guidelines. • Basic knowledge of Manufacturing environment and procedures is a plus. • Ability to lift and move heavy objects and work in a physically demanding environment. • Good communication and interpersonal skills. • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, etc.). • Candidates must be a current student and have completed their sophomore year by June 2027 and be in good academic standing. • Be authorized to work in the US without sponsorship. Preferred Skills: • Previous internship or work experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Learning Opportunities: • Gain practical experience in industrial environment and troubleshooting problems. • Learn from industry professionals and receive mentoring on best practices. • Improve understanding of the relationship between operational activities and production efficiency. Working Conditions: • Work in an industrial manufacturing environment. • Exposure to noise, machinery, and potential hazards (PPE will be provided). • Flexible hours, with possible overtime depending on project requirements
