Job Description: The Supervisor provides frontline leadership for Metal Finish, Tetra Etch, and PC Lab operations within Shops & Service Centers. This role is responsible for developing people, driving safe and disciplined execution, maintaining an effective Daily Management System, and ensuring work is performed consistently in accordance with established processes and requirements and continuously improved.
This position does not require the supervisor to be the primary technical expert for each process. Instead, the supervisor ensures the right technical resources are engaged when needed while creating an environment where leads and technicians are equipped, accountable, and empowered to safely execute the work, surface abnormalities, and solve problems.
The successful supervisor builds a team that executes safely, consistently, and effectively without relying on the supervisor to personally solve every problem. Leads and technicians understand priorities and customer needs, follow established processes, identify abnormalities early, and increasingly own daily execution and problem solving within their areas.
The supervisor owns the people and operating system that enable technical execution—ensuring the right standards, accountability, resources, problem-solving capability, and technical support are in place for the team to succeed. What You’ll Do: • Provide functional leadership for technicians and shop leads, including staffing, performance management, coaching, development, recognition, and accountability, with a focus on building leads who increasingly own daily execution within their areas. • Lead and sustain the Daily Management System (DMS) to make abnormalities in safety, quality, delivery, staffing, and flow visible, drive timely response and escalation, and maintain disciplined follow-through. • Translate organizational priorities, customer needs, and changing business requirements into clear, executable expectations for leads and technicians while managing competing priorities and unnecessary disruptions to stable execution. • Ensure standard work, procedures, training requirements, process controls, and operational expectations are understood, followed, and continuously improved. • Drive continuous improvement and structured problem solving using PDCA thinking, ensuring problems have clear ownership, appropriate resources, defined next steps, verified countermeasures, and learning is incorporated back into the operating system. • Partner with Engineering, Quality, M&P, EHS, Programs, and other support organizations to remove barriers and engage appropriate technical expertise while maintaining execution ownership within operations. • Build a culture of ownership, accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus where employees understand how their work impacts downstream operations, raise problems early, contribute ideas, and actively participate in improving how work is performed. • Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule. • Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment. • Perform other duties as necessary. On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions: • Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Required Skills and Education: • BS/BA in related field plus 2 or more years related experience. • Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master’s Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education. • A current, active Secret security clearance is required. • Demonstrated experience leading, coaching, and developing employees in a manufacturing, production, laboratory, or similarly regulated operational environment. • Proven ability to set clear expectations, hold employees accountable, address performance concerns, and build an engaged and effective team. • Experience managing daily operational execution, including safety, quality, delivery, staffing, workload, and changing priorities. • Ability to use daily management practices and performance information to identify abnormalities, escalate issues, and drive appropriate follow-through. • Demonstrated experience supporting continuous improvement, structured problem solving, waste reduction, and process improvement efforts. • Ability to reinforce adherence to standard work, procedures, process controls, training requirements, and established operating practices. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate expectations clearly, provide effective feedback, coach employees, and navigate difficult conversations. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively across functions and engage technical and support organizations to resolve barriers while maintaining ownership for operational execution. • Ability to prioritize competing demands, make sound decisions, and maintain execution in a dynamic manufacturing environment. • Ability to build effective working relationships across organizational levels and foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. • Ability to develop technicians and leaders. #LI-AD2
