Job Description The Shipping and Receiving Clerk is responsible for accurately receiving, inspecting, storing, preparing, and shipping materials and products. This position ensures that incoming and outgoing shipments are processed correctly and on time while maintaining accurate inventory records and a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
Responsibilities FACILITY/GROUP SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Receive, inspect, identify, and appropriately route incoming raw materials, parts, supplies, and finished equipment. Prepare, package, stage, and process materials and equipment for domestic and/or international shipment. Load and unload trucks and safely move materials throughout the facility using forklifts and other material-handling equipment. Verify incoming and outgoing materials against applicable shipping, receiving, and inventory documentation; identify and communicate discrepancies. Prepare and maintain required shipping and receiving documentation and coordinate pickups and deliveries with carriers as needed. Perform inventory transactions and maintain accurate material locations and records using applicable inventory systems. Support cycle counts, physical inventory activities, and investigation of inventory discrepancies. Pick, stage, and kit materials to support production, service, customer orders, and other facility requirements. Package and protect materials and equipment appropriately for storage, internal movement, or shipment. Coordinate with production, operations, purchasing, and other internal groups to support material availability and timely movement of goods. Organize warehouse and staging areas to support efficient material flow and accessibility. Maintain clean, orderly work and storage areas and properly care for assigned warehouse equipment. Prioritize receiving, material movement, and shipping activities based on facility and customer requirements. Communicate material shortages, shipping/receiving discrepancies, delays, and other issues that could affect operations. Support continuous improvement activities that improve material flow, inventory accuracy, organization, and warehouse efficiency. Perform other warehouse, shipping, receiving and material-handling responsibilities as required to support facility operations.
Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities: Qualifications Previous shipping, receiving, warehouse, or inventory experience preferred. Ability to read and understand purchase orders, packing slips, shipping documents, and product labels. Basic computer skills and ability to use inventory, warehouse, or shipping software. Basic math skills and strong attention to detail. Ability to accurately count, verify, and document inventory. Good organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication and problem-solving skills. Dependable attendance and ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Forklift certification preferred or willingness to become certified. Experience with UPS, FedEx, or other shipping systems is a plus. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to bend, reach, stoop, push, and pull throughout the workday.
Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 50 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Ability to safely operate material-handling equipment when trained and authorized.
Ability to work in a warehouse environment where temperatures and noise levels may vary.
