Job summary

The Post holder will be responsiblefor the production ofoncalland ward medical staffing rotas using Excel software and other software packages ensuring compliance with junior doctors working time directive.

Responsible that all medical staff locum claims aresubmittedina timelyfashion for Payroll.

The post holder will work closely with all medical staff and be able to deal with staffing queries on a daily basis.

Main duties of the job

Coordinate and manage junior medical staffing rotas across the Board of Medicine and Emergency Care, ensuring appropriate medical cover is maintained to support safe and effective patient care. Ensure medical staffing resources are deployed efficiently and in line with service needs, contractual requirements, and Trust policies. Work closely with the Board Management Team, Clinical Leads, and the Medical Staffing Department to proactively identify and resolve workforce and rota issues. Support the planning, monitoring, and maintenance of medical rotas, including managing planned and unplanned absences and escalating staffing concerns where appropriate. Build effective working relationships with consultants, junior doctors, service managers, and professional and technical staff across three hospital sites. Ensure medical staffing processes comply with relevant employment legislation, clinical governance standards, and Trust policies and procedures. Provide expert advice and support on medical workforce matters, contributing to service improvements and the delivery of operational objectives. Produce and analyse workforce information and reports to support workforce planning, performance monitoring, and decision-making. Contribute to the continuous development and improvement of medical staffing systems and processes, enhancing efficiency and service delivery.

Job description Job responsibilities

Ensure all medical staff within the Board of Medicine and Emergency Care are efficiently deployed through appropriate rota arrangements, resources efficiently used and all policies and procedures are complied with. The post holder will work closely with the Directorate Management Team and corporate Medical Staffing Department to ensure that medical staffing issues are addressed in an appropriate fashion, compliant with all corporate and clinical governance requirements.

Person Specification

Qualifications & Education Essential

Management Diploma/Degree/equivalent experience

Knowledge & Experience Essential

NHS experience, particularly working with clinicians, including managing medical staff, services, resources and budgets Sound knowledge of budgets

Skills & Abilities Essential

Excellent presentation skills A high standard of IT skills, as well as experience of other computer software applications Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
