Job summary Employment Advisor
Join Oxfordshire Employment and help people overcome barriers to employment and achieve their career goals. As an Employment Advisor, you will manage a caseload of customers with disabilities and/or long-term health conditions, supporting them to identify, access and sustain meaningful employment opportunities.
Working closely with customers, employers, education providers, partner organisations and support networks, you will assess individual strengths, aspirations and support needs, helping people develop skills, confidence and pathways into work. You will provide practical guidance on employment, training and development opportunities, create and maintain risk assessments where required, and offer workplace support to ensure successful outcomes.
This is a highly rewarding and people-focused role, requiring regular face-to-face engagement across Oxfordshire. You will build strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, identify employment opportunities, and work towards achieving individual and team performance targets.
We are looking for someone passionate about helping others, with excellent communication and relationship-building skills, a proactive attitude and a commitment to achieving positive outcomes. Experience of supporting people with disabilities or long-term health conditions is desirable, but transferable skills and the right values are equally important.

Your role involves seeking potential employment opportunities for customers by working closely with the individual, employers, prime contractors, and statutory bodies. From initial in person meetings, you will review applicants' abilities, needs, and wishes regarding employment and respond accordingly, linking customers to employment, training, and development opportunities.
You will provide advice on achieving employment to customers, their circle of support, and other organisations, and signpost individuals to other sources of advice where appropriate. Identifying specific needs and risks, you will create and maintain risk assessments with the individual to ensure safety in the workplace. Where required, you will train and support customers in getting to a placement and provide on-the-job support.
Your responsibilities also include creating and maintaining records and processes in line with organisational and contract requirements, using both online databases and hard copy record systems. Successful candidates must be able to travel throughout the county to deliver support and attend meetings in various locations. While there is flexibility to undertake administrative tasks from home or an office base, the primary focus of the role is the delivery of in-person employment support.
