About this role

Job summary

We're looking for a content officer to join our user experience and insights team at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust. In this role, you'll help us ensure that patients and families using our services receive information that is accurate, inclusive and easy to understand.

Working with colleagues across the Trust, you will draft and edit patient information for our website, leaflets and letters. You will help coordinate translation and accessible formats, support patient and user involvement activities, and organise the processes that keep our information accurate and up to date.

You will have strong writing, editing and proofreading skills, with an excellent understanding of grammar and punctuation. You will be able to organise competing priorities, meet deadlines and build effective relationships with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders.

Main duties of the job

Responsibilities include:

writing and editing patient-facing content in plain English uploading and maintaining content on the website and in our patient information database coordinating translation, large-print, audio and other accessible formats managing requests through the patient information inbox and database liaising with clinical teams to secure approval and meet governance requirements

Person Specification

Education / qualifications Essential

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Desirable

Relevant professional qualifications, for example some content/user insights training.

Experience Essential

Good track record in creating and editing content Experience of editing and excellent understanding of grammar and punctuation Proven ability to support effective content projects.

Desirable

NHS or private health experience Experience of user insights, focus groups, or working in a way that's focused on the needs of the user Patient information experience.

Skills / knowledge / abilities Essential

Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project for the Web and other relevant programmes and software Ability to organise and prioritise own workload, working to deadlines

Desirable

Experience of planning and project management Administration skills, for example updating and maintaining a database.
