Vacancies have arisen for morning Patient Services Assistants to join the busy Patient Services Department at QA Hospital.
Patient Services provide a comprehensive cleaning service to all wards/departments/communal areas and Residences. Ward cleaning involves communicating with patients and nursing staff to ensure that wards/departments are maintained to a high standard of cleanliness.
Enthusiasm and flexibility are essential qualities required. Opportunity to multi-skill and train as a Housekeeper will be available.
This post is monthly paid, and a uniform is supplied. The successful applicants will receive a first-class training package, which incorporates on and off the job training with the use of large floor machinery. Benefits include a generous annual leave entitlement and a chance to join the NHS Pension Scheme.

Main duties of the job
Clean all floors, furniture, fixtures, fittings, glassware, and high and low-level surfaces in both Clinical and Non-Clinical areas. Carry out daily cleaning tasks, planned routine ward scrubs, and ad hoc infectious scrubs following outbreaks (e.g., MRSA, diarrhoea and vomiting, hepatitis) to help minimise bed blocking. Perform daily cleaning of sanitary fixtures and fittings in patient and public areas. Clean high and low-level areas including spot washing walls, dusting curtain tracks, radiators, window ledges, internal glass, and doorframes. Change window and bed curtains routinely and after infectious cleans. Clean patient-related furniture such as bedframes, lockers, tables, and chairs. Operate heavy mechanical cleaning equipment (scrubbers, wet pickups, buffers) on floors in wards, bathrooms, toilets, and corridors. Clean Theatres including daily scrubbing of floors and sinks, and maintenance of surrounding clean and dirty corridors according to department and Infection Control guidelines.

The postholder will be required to operate the following equipment.
Procedures as detailed in the Patient Services Operational Procedures Manual.
Tub or cylinder vacuum.
Scrubbing Machine.
Carpet Shampooer.
Hot water boilers/kettles Procedures Manual.
Floor Mopping equipment.
Safety Steps.
Scrubber/Dryer machines.
Waste bins.
Steam cleaner machines.
This list is not exhaustive but indicative of the equipment in use.
SYSTEMS
Follow SOPs (Working Instructions) to ensure that the department is run in an efficient and safe manner.
Completion of Stores Request forms.
Completion of own timesheet / holiday sheets / sickness notes.
Reporting of faulty equipment to the Domestic Supervisor or Estates department.
Completion of paperwork relevant to post.
Completion of staff surveys.
Participating in relevant audits.
