About this role

Job summary

The is an exciting opportunity to join our community-facing pharmacy team working in mental health services in Devon. As medicines provision in mental health evolves we are building capacity to support increased prescribing within community mental health teams. The postholder will work across core mental health services in West Devon and the South Hams, supporting the pharmacists, the wider multidisciplinary teams and the patients with their medicines, ensuring better outcomes and reducing the risk of harm.

Main duties of the job

The successful applicant will be expected to work both independently and in collaboration with the multidisciplinary teams to ensure the safe prescribing and monitoring of medicines. This will include patient-facing clinical work, reviewing prescriptions, supporting repeat prescribing and managing day to day clinical queries and challenges as well as providing input to training where required.

Individuals without the PWDS Enhanced Clinical Practice qualification will be employed as band 5 technicians pending completion of this course.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

NVQ level 3 and BTEC in pharmaceutical science or equivalent Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Accredited Medicine Optimisation Technician levels: Foundation / Intermediate / Advanced (Clinical Prioritisation or Enhanced Clinical Practice)

Experience Essential

Evidence of post-qualification experience of medicine optimisation duties.

Desirable

Experience of working within mental health or with individuals with mental illness
