About this role

Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly organised Quality Manager to join the expanding KHP Cancer Biobank in continuing to deliver a high-quality research service.

You'll be joining a recent UKAS ISO 20387:2018 Biobanking accredited facility with extensive sample collections and over twenty directly employed Biobank staff.

The role offers a variety of work including administering the quality management system, undertaking audits, overseeing completion of staff training, document management and some health and safety requirements.

You will have opportunity to lead on new initiatives to ensure compliance with UKAS accreditation and will report directly to the Biobank Operational Committee.

Main duties of the job

This is a specialized post, requiring a high level of knowledge relating to national and international legislation, regulations, management and conduct of biobanking. The post holder will implement and maintain quality systems to ISO accreditation standards and ensure compliance with Trust policy, regarding non-compliance and CAPA reports. Nurturing a team of over 20 staff, with varying levels of experience to maintain the required standards requires excellent communication, organisation and deployment skills.

The Biobank supports a significant number of programmes and projects led by the Trust and King's College London School of Cancer and Pharmaceutical Sciences. This includes an extensive cancer organoid generation programme and working with other academic and commercial partners. With a team of more than 20 dedicated personnel, the Biobank specialist skills and facilities are increasingly utilised for translational cancer research and clinical trial purposes.

Person Specification

Qualifications Essential

Degree in life Sciences or equivalent theoretical knowledge Post graduate diploma or equivalent in relevant field Evidence of CPD

Previous Experience Essential

Proven quality management experience with good knowledge of management theory Experience of carry out audits and CAPA planning Experience of developing SOPs and quality assurance processes

Desirable

Experience of UKAS accreditation assessment Prior experience of working in a laboratory environment

Skills Essential

Excellent communication skills In depth knowledge of quality management practices Knowledge of regulatory requirements relevant to Biobanks within the NHS Presentation skills
