Job summary

This Deputy Superintendent Radiographer (Fluoroscopy/Interventional Radiology)/Trainee Reporting Radiographer Development Post offers an opportunity for an experienced radiographer to develop within a progressive imaging service at West Middlesex University Hospital.

As a progression post, the successful candidate will be appointed as a Band 6. Upon completion of the attached progression checklist, they will be uplifted to Band 7. Progression is expected to take between 12-24 months.Please review the attached progression checklist for further details.

The successful candidate will support the safe, effective and efficient delivery of fluoroscopy and interventional radiology services, while undertaking formal postgraduate training to develop as a reporting radiographer in Adult Contrast Swallow examinations.

The successful candidate will support the safe, effective and efficient delivery of fluoroscopy and interventional radiology services, while undertaking formal postgraduate training to develop as a reporting radiographer in Adult Contrast Swallow examinations.

The Deputy Superintendent Radiographer / Trainee Reporting Radiographer will undertake formal postgraduate training to perform, interpret and report Adult Contrast Swallow examinations, in line with an agreed scope of practice, local governance arrangements and competency requirements.

The post-holder will deputise for the Superintendent Radiographer for Fluoroscopy, Interventional Radiology in their absence, and will support the safe, efficient and effective running of the fluoroscopy and interventional radiology service at West Middlesex University Hospital

In summary-

Deputise for the Superintendent Radiographer in their absence.

Assist with workforce planning and daily operational management.

Support staff development, appraisals and competency assessment.

Lead elements of quality improvement and service transformation.

Promote a culture of innovation, safety and continuous improvement.

Support implementation of departmental policies, procedures and protocols.

Contribute to radiation safety initiatives, dose optimisation and governance programmes.

Act as a role model for junior staff and students.

Once Qualified as B7 reporting radiographer and competency sign-off, governance approval and independent reporting requirements are met:

Independently perform and report Adult Contrast Swallow examinations within agreed scope of practice.

Participate in reporting audit and peer review programmes.

Contribute to development of reporting pathways and service expansion.

Provide specialist advice to referrers and multidisciplinary teams regarding Adult Contrast Swallow examinations.

Contribute to protocol development and service improvement relating to fluoroscopy reporting.
