Job summary
Due to retirement, an excellent opportunity has arisen to join our dispensing team.
We are looking for a qualified Dispenser or we will consider employing a Prescription Clerk, with a view to undertaking an NVQ or equivalent in dispensing or pharmacy.
The hours required are 24 per week as below:-
Tuesday 8.30-12.30 2.00-6.00
Wednesday 8.30-12.30 2.00-6.00
Friday 8.30-12.30 2.00-6.00
Main duties of the job
To process all relevant prescriptions (for dispensing and non-dispensing patients) as authorised by GPs and prescribing nurses where appropriate, in accordance with the principles of good practice.

Job description Job responsibilities
Job Responsibilities:-
To ensure that all medicines and appliances dispensed are checked against the prescription and wherever there is doubt about the appropriateness of the item, or about the dose or labelling instructions, to check with the authorising doctor.
To collect all due prescription charges and ensure that the patient declaration on the reverse of the FP10 is duly filled in and signed by the patient.
To endorse all prescription forms as appropriate, collate and forward the forms in a secure manner to the NHS Prescription Services for processing and reimbursement.
To promptly forward any invoices and dispensary related correspondence to the Practice Manager.
To operate efficient stock control appropriate to the needs of the Practice.
To ensure that drugs are stored in an appropriate manner.
To ensure that all shelves and work surfaces are regularly cleaned.
To take prompt action in response to drug alert bulletins.
To ensure that refrigerated items are stored at the required temperature.
To answer queries from patients regarding medicines and prescriptions.
To undertake any necessary work as may be required and appropriate to maintain a high standard and efficient dispensing service.
Person Specification
Experience Desirable
Experience of working in primary care. Experience of working in a dispensary or pharmacy.
Qualifications Essential
NVQ or equivalent qualification in dispensing/pharmacy GCSE Grade A to C in English and Maths Microsoft office
