Job summary
We are looking for a motivated Health Care Assistant to join our nursing team
The post-holder will deliver high-quality, care to our patients, working alongside and under the support of our nursing and wider practice team.
Main duties of the job
Undertake new patient health checks
Carry out baseline observations such as pulse oximetry, blood pressure, temperature and pulse rate, recording findings accurately
Facilitate routine and 24-hour BP monitoring, advising patients accordingly
Carry out BMI checks as directed
Act as a chaperone as required
Undertake phlebotomy
Support infection control
Maintain accurate clinical records using appropriate coding systems
Carry out ECGs as requested
Ensure specimens are recorded and ready for onward transportation
Provide support during Minor Ops clinics as required
Ensure clinical rooms are adequately stocked and prepared for each session
Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team MDT and wider PCN
Recognise clinical boundaries and refer appropriately to GPs or other professionals
Support the delivery of QOF targets and enhanced services

We are a small practice with 5,400 patients
You will be working in a friendly team with Salaried GPs, GP Registrars, ANP, Practice Nurses, Nursing Associate and HCA and Admin /Reception staff.

Person Specification
Qualifications Essential
Essential Completion of HCA Care Certificate Competence in core skills, phlebotomy, blood pressure monitoring, ECG recording Ability to work within a team Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Desirable
Experience working as a Health Care Assistant in Primary Care Understanding of safeguarding and clinical governance IT proficiency and ability to maintain accurate clinical records
