Extend Learning Academies Network (ELAN) has an exciting opportunity for a reliable, enthusiastic and hardworking catering assistant to join our successful trust-wide catering services team.

This is an ideal role for someone looking for a school catering job, kitchen assistant role, food service assistant position, or part-time catering work in Weston-super-Mare. Whether you have previous experience in a school kitchen, café, restaurant or food preparation environment, or are looking to develop a career in catering, we'd love to hear from you.

As a catering assistant, you will help provide nutritious, high-quality meals to pupils while ensuring our kitchens maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety and customer service.

Hours: 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday

Contract: Permanent term-time only, 39 weeks per year, including 15 INSET hours per academic year

Interview date: 6 October 2026

Key responsibilities include:

Preparing and serving hot and cold school mealsSupporting the day-to-day operation of the school kitchenMaintaining high standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen complianceCleaning kitchen equipment, food preparation areas and dining spacesAssisting with stock control and kitchen organisationEncouraging healthy eating and providing excellent customer service to pupilsHelping create a safe, welcoming and enjoyable lunchtime environmentThis is an excellent opportunity for someone with an interest in school catering, kitchen assistant, food service, hospitality or catering support roles who enjoys working in a busy environment and making a positive difference to children's wellbeing.
