The Role
We are seeking a warm, resilient, and proactive Inclusion HLTA to become the calming, relational heart of our small, dedicated special needs school. This is a vital pastoral position designed for a natural relationship-builder. Someone who takes pride in creating safe spaces for vulnerable young people and navigating moments of pupil dysregulation with unconditional care and professional poise. Reporting directly to the Inclusion Lead and Head of School, you will work within our vibrant Interdisciplinary Team (IDT). Your day-to-day work will bridge the gap between high-level therapeutic approaches and the fast-paced, unpredictable realities of supporting behaviour in a busy school environment. You will help staff our consistently open Inclusion Office, step into classrooms to model best practice for LSAs, and pick up the phone to build collaborative partnerships with families. Whether you are leading a structured Protective Behaviours lesson or picking up a planned restorative conversation once a student is calm, you will bring steady ground to our community.
Key Responsibilities
A significant portion of this role involves the meticulous oversight of student welfare, tracking, and daily pastoral actions. You will be the co-anchor of the Inclusion Office, transforming it into a reliably calm space where students can reset, re-regulate, and feel heard. You will handle vital administrative data, ensuring every session note and behavioural touchpoint is recorded accurately on IRIS, while building resource materials and presentation slides for wider staff training. Beyond data, you are a visible, deeply supportive presence across the entire school. You will step into lesson environments, co-lead form tutor responsibilities, and closely collaborate with our Speech & Language Therapists (SaLT), Occupational Therapists (OT), and Wellbeing staff. You will lean into an inclusive, non-punitive ethos, believing firmly that behaviour is a form of communication and a call for connection.
About You
The successful candidate will be an expert in restorative, relationship-based behaviour approaches, with the emotional intelligence to navigate moments of high distress seamlessly. You must possess a high level of emotional resilience, patience, and discretion, which is essential for working in a small, highly specialised secondary setting. We are looking for someone who is exceptionally warm, approachable, and deeply committed to our school's values and the holistic welfare of our neurodivergent pupils. You should have a proven track record of working within a school environment alongside young people with SEND, autism, or complex speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN). Most importantly, you will be a collaborative, flexible problem-solver who thrives in a role where no two days are ever the same.

The St Marylebone CE Bridge School is a co-educational Special Free School for students aged 11-16 with EHCPs for Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
