We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Teaching Assistant Level 1 (Mainstream) to join our fantastic team at CHS South.
This is a Grade 2 , permanent full time post working 30 hours per week, term time only plus 1 week. The starting full-time equivalent salary is £26,016, and the pro-rata is £19,180.
Teaching Assistant is a rewarding role supporting students in a vibrant and inclusive secondary school environment. You will work under the direction of the classroom teachers and Headteachers to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and personal development.
Key Responsibilities will include:
Support for Pupils
Work with small groups under teacher supervision, including implementing Individual Learning PlansPromote inclusion and equal access to learningEncourage independence and positive behaviourAttend to students’ personal and welfare needsSupport for Teachers
Prepare classrooms and resources for lessonsProvide clerical and administrative supportAssist with behaviour managementUndertake pupil record keeping as requiredSupport for the School
Uphold safeguarding, child protection, health and safety and data protection policiesSupervise pupils during classroom and outdoor activitiesContribute to the wider ethos and aims of the schoolParticipate in training and performance developmentAs a Teaching Assistant Level 1, you will:
Support access to learning for individuals, small groups and occasionally on a 1:1 basisAssist in the preparation of classroom resources and provide curricular administrative supportSupport teachers in managing behaviour in class and around schoolProvide feedback on pupil progress and maintain accurate recordsRespond to pupils’ pastoral, social, health and welfare needs, including minor first aidHelp create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environmentYou will play a key role in building positive relationships with students, encouraging independence, and promoting high expectations for all.

Has experience of working with or caring for children of a relevant ageHas a basic understanding of child development and learningHolds Level 2 qualifications (or equivalent/higher) in English and MathsDemonstrates excellent numeracy and literacy skillsCan build strong, professional relationships with students, staff and parentsIs committed to safeguarding, equality and inclusionWorks effectively as part of a team and shows a willingness to learnYou should be empathetic, resilient and proactive, with a genuine passion for supporting young people to succeed.
