About this role
The postholder will provide professional and impartial careers information, advice, education and guidance to undergraduate and postgraduate students and alumni, supporting them to make informed career decisions, develop their career readiness and progress successfully into employment or further study.
You will have particular responsibility for supporting the University's Access and Participation Plan (APP) priorities relating to student progression and employability. Using institutional and sector evidence, they will identify barriers, participation gaps and differential outcomes affecting APP priority groups and develop, coordinate and evaluate appropriate careers and employability interventions in response.
A key responsibility of the role will be to lead and coordinate the University's Central Careers Programme, providing an accessible and inclusive programme of careers education and practical career development activity for the wider student population. The postholder will also develop targeted approaches and interventions where evidence indicates that universal provision alone is insufficient to address the needs or barriers experienced by APP priority groups
About you
You will have a qualification at Level 6 or above in Careers Guidance or a relevant discipline, with good knowledge of the current graduate labour market and recruitment processes. We are looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to interpret data and evidence to translate findings into practical careers and employability interventions. The successful applicant will have experience of providing careers information, advice and/or guidance and of designing and delivering careers education, workshops or presentations.
