Program Summary The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) sustains the Army’s mission to develop, acquire, field, and sustain ground combat, tactical, and support systems throughout their lifecycle. The program focuses on ensuring operational readiness, reliability, and safety of automotive and ground support equipment critical to Army operations. Under this contract, personnel provide maintenance, repair, overhaul, and sustainment support in accordance with Army technical manuals, safety standards, and performance requirements.

Job Summary The Motor Vehicle Mechanic performs inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of tactical and support vehicles in support of TACOM operations. This role is responsible for maintaining vehicle readiness by diagnosing mechanical issues, performing repairs, and ensuring systems operate safely and effectively.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Performs the complete rebuild and/or repair of one major system of combat vehicles such as engines, transmissions, or fuel and electrical, etc. • Connects transmissions and engines to form power packs, performs add-ons and conducts tests involving a variety of transmissions used with reciprocating engines or turbine engines for combat vehicles. Performs external repair of the power pack assembly. • Performs pre-shop analysis of turbine engines for combat vehicles, diagnoses defects and determines the extent of repairs required, and if engine must be completely disassembled, repaired and rebuilt. Performs the repairs and modifications if possible to eliminate the disassembly. • Performs general mechanical work in connection with the repair, rebuild, overhaul and modification of a variety of combat tactical vehicles and/or combat vehicle components and/or secondary items, i.e., various fuel and electrical assemblies/subassemblies for combat and tactical vehicles.

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED. • Requires verifiable rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent. • Proficient in the use of mechanical practices and the associated Technical Manuals to perform troubleshooting, repair procedures and identify needed repair parts for the vehicle fleet. • Must be able to obtain and maintain appropriate security clearance for access to Depot Production Computer System. • Must have a valid state-issued driver’s license and be able to obtain and retain a forklift operator’s license. • Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (as required) • U.S. citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience supporting DoD, Army, or TACOM programs • Prior government contracting experience

Additional Information This position will be a part of a physical work environment that requires standing, walking, and lifting. There is potential exposure to machinery, tools, fuels, oils, and outdoor conditions. Employees may also be required to work shifts, overtime, or weekend support based on mission needs.
