About this role

The Accounting Manager is responsible for leading and developing a team of Senior and Staff Accountants while overseeing accurate, timely financial reporting and core accounting activities. Partner cross-functionally to analyze financial results, reserves, trends, and key accounting matters while supporting business decisions and resolving complex issues. Establish strong internal controls, drive process improvements and efficiencies, and lead the team through interim and year-end external audit activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead and manage a team of Senior and Staff Accountants, establishing priorities, expectations, and performance objectives.

• Ensure team deadlines and deliverables are consistently met with a high level of accuracy and quality.

• Provide training, coaching, performance feedback, and career development opportunities for team members.

• Review and approve accounting work, including calculations, journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation.

• Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements, supporting schedules, and reconciliations of asset and liability accounts.

• Analyze high-level reserve balances and perform necessary true-ups to ensure accurate financial reporting.

• Research and resolve account discrepancies, unusual activity, and financial reporting issues.

• Analyze financial trends, revenues, costs, and financial obligations to identify risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement.

• Apply sound accounting judgment to complex financial matters and ensure accuracy and completeness of reported results.

• Partner cross-functionally with Finance and other departments to support financial decisions, monthly budget-to-actual reporting, and key reporting requirements.

• Perform ad hoc accounting, reporting, and analytical projects in support of management objectives.

• Identify and implement process improvements, efficiencies, and creative solutions to enhance team performance and timely reporting.

• Establish, monitor, and maintain key internal controls and partner with internal and external auditors to validate control effectiveness.

• Lead the accounting team through interim and year-end external audits, coordinating deliverables and ensuring timely resolution of audit requests.

Required Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with a CPA preferred. 5+ years of relevant work experience with experience in accounting and 3+ years of managerial experience. Public accounting experience is preferred.

Required Computer and Technical Skills:

Proficiency in all Microsoft Office equivalent programs. CPA certification is preferred, along with experience working in large ERP systems and demonstrated strengths in analytical thinking, execution, and sound decision-making.
