About the Job: As a Manager, Propulsion you will be responsible for the entire lifecycle, from new engine concept development, through sustainment of the propulsion module. Oversight of the propulsion development labs, leading the engineering team, and working with internal and external customers including production and the supply chain. This job will consist of approximately 70% tasks that directly contribute to project execution, and 30% general overhead tasks (performance reviews, employee engagement activities, employee assignments).

Responsibilities include:

• Team organization, technical leadership, process leadership, and tools/training as it relates to the propulsion engineering discipline, and managing a team of propulsion engineers, project managers, and technicians. • Product Line leadership including planning and execution, managing the cost, schedule and technical performance of projects. • Working directly with Product Managers and Principal Engineers to develop propulsion strategy and roadmaps • Managing the propulsion R&D lab and Engineering Analysis tools. • Developing and managing requirements for capital equipment. • Management responsibility for the full life-cycle of Insitu Propulsion products • Advanced capabilities • New product introduction • Production and supply chain support / sustainment • Fleet and field operations support

• Interact frequently with internal and external management and senior-level customer representatives concerning projects, operational decisions, and/or technical requirements. • Lead briefings and technical meetings for internal and external representatives.

Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

• Experience leading an engineering group. Ideally, this includes performance reviews, motivating the team, providing technical guidance, setting goals and establishing daily tasks for a team of Engineers. • Expert knowledge of propulsion and internal combustion engines. • Knowledge of project management techniques including scheduling, management of budgets and technical performance • Knowledge of risk management techniques as it relates to project/product management. • Knowledge of design standards, concepts and techniques including Design for Manufacture/Assembly, Reliability, and Certification. • Knowledge of product lifecycle, including design, manufacturing, deployment, modification, aging and continued service, and discontinuation. Knowledge and experience in design release and change management. • Knowledge of mechanical component and system design, analysis, engineering materials including composites, and integration, and the tools required to perform those tasks. • Multidisciplinary skills in electrical engineering, systems engineering and firmware / software development. • This is an on-site or hybrid position. It is required to be on site a minimum of 3 days a week. • Knowledge of Engine Test Cells, Instrumentation, and Data Acquisition Systems Preferred:

• Knowledge of ASME standards. • Knowledge of appropriate customer or governmental regulations relevant to design, test, and certification. • Knowledge/skill or proficient with SolidWorks and/or CATIA. • Knowledge/skill in FMEA/FMECA and fault tolerant design principles. • Knowledge/skill in Finite Element Analyses (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Engine Performance Thermodynamic analyses/testing. • Knowledge of aerospace and/or aircraft subsystems.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelors degree is required; Masters is a strong plus. • Typically 6+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 4+ years of experience in a Mechanical engineering classification (or similar) with a Master’s degree. Previous experience designing internal combustion propulsion systems, productizing them, and providing field support is very strongly desired, preference for reciprocating engines and heavy fuel.

In-Office Requirement Statement: (Hybrid) This position is eligible for hybrid work. It is our strong preference that this position is on-site 4 days per week to allow for maximum collaboration and connection to the team and product. However, depending on the candidate’s location, experience, and qualifications, we may have some flexibility in the frequency of on-site days. Please note that the salary information show below is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate experience, qualifications and work location.
