Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic band 6 physiotherapist to join Chelsea and Westminster Foundation Trust in the stroke and neurology therapy team at West Middlesex for 10 months.
This post would be suited to either an experienced band 5 physiotherapist or a band 6 physiotherapist with stroke / neurology experience within a diverse and friendly team.
Main duties of the job
To provide a high standard physiotherapy service to neurologically impaired patients at West Middlesex Hospital
To work closely with patients and their carers, other disciplines and services, to identify and realise desired and achievable goals, and optimise wellbeing,
Independence and quality of life
To work with clients with stroke who are inpatients at West Middlesex Hospital. This includes specialist client assessment, treatment and ongoing rehabilitation, working towards client centred goals in the context of Stroke Rehabilitation and as part of the multi-disciplinary team.
To work as an autonomous practitioner in providing specialist stroke and neurological assessment and treatment to own designated caseload of patients and to maintain up to date therapy records.
To assist in the day to day running and organisation of Stroke and Neurological therapy service to patients on the stroke unit, and elsewhere in the hospital.

Education and qualifications Essential
BSc or Diploma in Occupational therapy/ Physiotherapy HPC registration Evidence of CPD and relevant post graduate courses

Membership of a specialist interest group relevant to clinical area
Experience Essential
Experience working as an autonomous qualified therapist in Neurology or stroke care Experience of working in an acute care setting Experience working as an autonomous qualified therapist in other relevant clinical areas e.g. respiratory, medicine, elderly care Experience working with people who have had a Stroke Evidence of close working with all members of the multidisciplinary team Experience of complex discharge planning in the NHS Experience of supervision and teaching of assistants, students and other members of MDT
