About this role

Job summary

Applications are invited for the post of Consultant in Medical Oncology to join the Cancer Directorate at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge. This is a substantive post in Breast and Renal malignancies (10 PAs) to commence as soon as possible.

Interviews for this post will be held in person on 03 November 2026 at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Hills Road, Cambridge CB2 0QQ. Specific department and venue details will be provided to shortlisted candidates.

Main duties of the job

This is a replacement post and the successful applicant will join the Breast and Renal Oncology teams at Addenbrooke's. The duties of this post include working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary teams, running outpatient clinics in breast and renal cancers, an on-call commitment and ward cover. The teams are well established and clinical research and entry of patients into national and international clinical trials is encouraged. The candidate should have a high regard for clinical effectiveness and should practise evidence-based medicine. They should participate in audit and teaching and continuing medical education.

The candidate must be fully registered with the GMC and would be expected to be on the GMC Specialist Register or within 6 months of their expected date of receipt of a CCT at the time of interview. The applicant must have demonstrable skills in listening, reading, writing and speaking in English that enable effective communication about medical topics with patients and colleagues, as set out in the GMC's Good Medical Practice (2013). Non-UK applicants must possess the IELTS/OET exam before obtaining a GMC licence to practice.
