The role is responsible for executing borrowing transactions (bank lines, NCDs, CPs) at optimal cost, maintaining and growing relationships with relationship managers and treasury desks across lending banks, and keeping the Head – Treasury informed on market conditions and funding options. This is a front-office, execution-focused role with limited back-office/investment scope. Other Quantitative / Qualitative Parameters Area Parameters Financial Cost of Borrowing (COB) on managed lines, bank limit utilisation, sanction turnaround time, borrowing volumes closed Relationships Number and depth of active banking relationships, number of active lenders/limits managed Research Bank-wise pricing benchmarks, competitor borrowing rates, short-term rate movements Job Context & Major Challenges The Treasury Manager sits at the front line of the company's funding operations — sourcing quotes, negotiating terms, and closing transactions with banks and select debt market counterparties on a day-to-day basis. The role requires constant coordination with banking partners to secure timely sanctions, competitive pricing, and adequate headroom to meet the business's funding needs, while keeping the Head – Treasury updated on relationship health, pricing trends, and emerging funding opportunities. Because the role is front-office facing, the jobholder needs to combine strong relationship-building skills with the discipline to execute transactions accurately and within approved limits, escalating pricing or structuring decisions that fall outside a pre-agreed mandate. Key Responsibilities Banking relationship management Own day-to-day relationships with relationship managers and treasury desks at lending banks Act as the first point of contact for banks on limit reviews, documentation, and covenant queries Track bank-wise limit utilisation, renewal timelines, and covenant compliance Identify and onboard new banking relationships to widen the lender base, in coordination with the Head – Treasury Funds raising and execution Source competitive quotes for working capital and term borrowing from banks Execute borrowing transactions (bank term loans, cash credit/OD lines, NCDs, CPs) within approved mandates and limits Negotiate pricing, tenor, and terms within the framework set by the Head – Treasury Coordinate documentation, disbursement, and settlement of borrowing transactions with internal Treasury Operations and legal teams Track upcoming redemptions/maturities and flag rollover requirements well in advance Market and relationship intelligence Monitor short-term interest rate movements, bank pricing trends, and peer borrowing costs Share regular updates with the Head – Treasury on funding market conditions and relationship developments Flag opportunities for cost reduction or diversification (e.g., new lenders, new instruments) for the Head – Treasury's consideration Operations and compliance support Ensure all borrowing transactions are processed per SOPs, with accurate transaction records and disclosures Support the Head – Treasury with data for internal MIS on bank-wise borrowings, COB, and limit utilisation Assist with statutory, internal, and concurrent audit requirements relating to bank borrowings Ensure adherence to RBI/FEMA guidelines applicable to bank borrowings Critical Skill Sets Strong, established relationships with banking relationship managers and treasury desks Good understanding of bank borrowing instruments (term loans, CC/OD, NCDs, CPs) and pricing conventions Strong negotiation and communication skills Ability to work within defined mandates while managing multiple relationships and deadlines simultaneously Comfort with basic financial analysis and market tracking Major Challenges in the Role Securing timely sanctions and adequate limits as the business scales Maintaining competitive pricing across a growing set of banking relationships Balancing relationship-building with disciplined, within-mandate execution Keeping documentation and compliance current across multiple active lenders Spotting early signs of pricing or relationship risk and escalating promptly Education & Experience MBA (Finance), CA, or equivalent postgraduate qualification 4–7 years of relevant experience in treasury front office, corporate banking relationship management, or debt capital markets Demonstrated experience directly managing bank relationships and closing borrowing transactions Key Result Areas Key Result Area Supporting Actions Banking relationship management Own day-to-day contact with lending banks; manage limit reviews, renewals, and covenant queries; onboard new banking relationships to diversify the lender base Funds raising & execution Source and negotiate competitive quotes from banks; execute bank and market borrowings within approved mandates; coordinate documentation and settlement with Treasury Operations; track and plan for upcoming redemptions/rollovers Market & relationship intelligence Track short-term rate movements and peer pricing; report funding market conditions and relationship updates to the Head – Treasury; flag cost-reduction or diversification opportunities Operations & compliance support Ensure transactions follow SOPs with accurate records; provide data for Treasury MIS; support audit readiness; ensure RBI/FEMA compliance on bank borrowings
