Position Summary Tilcon Connecticut is seeking a motivated and customer-focused Commercial Sales Representative to manage and grow sales within an assigned territory. This role is responsible for the sales and marketing of asphalt products and related services throughout Connecticut. The ideal candidate will combine strong sales abilities, excellent relationship-building skills, and a solid understanding of business fundamentals to deliver exceptional customer service and drive revenue growth. The Commercial Sales Representative will work closely with internal teams, paving contractors, municipalities, commercial businesses, truckers, and state agencies throughout Connecticut. Key Responsibilities Sales & Marketing Market and sell Tilcon Connecticut asphalt products and related services. Develop and maintain relationships with residential, municipal, commercial, and government customers. Identify customer needs and recommend solutions incorporating Tilcon products and services. Prepare and follow up on quotes and sales opportunities in a timely manner. Monitor market conditions, industry trends, and competitor activity. Develop and strengthen relationships with FOB asphalt customers. Deliver world-class customer service and support throughout the sales process. Estimating Review project plans and specifications to determine product requirements and quantities. Prepare accurate estimates and quotations. Apply working knowledge of asphalt paving operations, production methods, and cost factors when developing estimates. Administrative Responsibilities Prepare and maintain required documentation, including: Estimates Quotes Bid packages Contracts and subcontracts Job worksheets Special pricing forms Credit approvals Billing reports Sales reports and information requests Ensure all paperwork is completed accurately and submitted on a timely basis. Update monthly backlogs and forecasting models. Monitor accounts receivable aging reports and coordinate collection efforts with the Credit Department. Visit production facilities regularly and collaborate on strategies related to operational efficiencies, inventory management, and other business needs. Qualifications Education & Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. Minimum of two (2) years of sales experience. General understanding of business fundamentals. Experience using Salesforce CRM preferred. Asphalt paving, road construction, or heavy construction materials sales experience preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Ability to read and interpret job specifications, bid documents, contracts, and technical information. Ability to write reports, correspondence, and business communications. Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and business partners. Strong mathematical aptitude, including the ability to calculate quantities, percentages, rates, and ratios. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to interpret written, oral, diagrammatic, and schedule-based instructions. Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams. Strong interpersonal skills and collaborative work style. Commitment to providing exceptional customer service both internally and externally. Safety Requirements Employees are required to comply with all OSHA, state, and company safety requirements and wear personal protective equipment (PPE) when visiting operational or construction areas. Required PPE may include: Hard hat Safety glasses High-visibility safety vest Hearing protection Safety-toe footwear Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, walk, talk, and hear regularly throughout the workday. Ability to use a computer for extended periods. Ability to perform work requiring close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment Combination of office and field-based work. Occasional exposure to moving mechanical equipment and outdoor weather conditions, including wet or humid environments. Moderate noise levels are typical in most work environments.
