About this role

NOV South Africa is seeking a highly experienced Electrical Engineer to join our team in Port Elizabeth Gqeberha. In this role, you will design, plan, and develop electrical control and automation systems, including PLC control cabinets, field instrumentation interface, and industrial communication networks. You will be responsible for electrical and control system design while ensuring compliance with industry standards and NOV engineering requirements. The role includes producing electrical drawings and documentation, selecting electrical and instrumentation components, and supporting manufacturing, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and troubleshooting activities. You’ll collaborate with multiple engineering disciplines to enhance the value of NOV’s products and services. As part of a global resource pool, your tasks may vary depending on project requirements and organizational priorities. • Research, develop, and design Electrical and electronic interface circuitry for control of products. • Design and review electrical PLC control cabinets, field instrumentation interfaces, and associated control systems for various rig equipment, ensuring compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and operational requirements. • Create and/or design electrical drawings and documentation. (Typical; block diagram, termination diagram, electrical schematic, interconnect, cabling, and assembly drawings and BOMs.) • Ensure electrical scope and content is defined during initial design processes. • Provide electrical leadership in preparation, and ensure that deliverables projects are controlled with regard to scope, schedule, budget, performing appraisal, etc. • Work with customers (internal/external) and review project defining documents to understand project requirements. • Establish design criteria for deliverables using required codes and standards. • Review contractual content to ensure technical and regulatory compliance. • Ensure subsequent design changes are documented and transmitted as required to internal and external resources. • Participate in design review. • Provide technical support during testing. • Review and approve engineering documentation provided by external groups

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation or Mechatronics. • Minimum 5+ years of experience designing electrical and instrumentation control systems. • Experience in electrical PLC control cabinets, field instrumentation interfaces. (Essential) • Relevant experience within Instrumentation, Electrical, Mining Machines or Automotive. • Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, and Ethernet. • Practical experience with FATs or Commissioning Equipment
