About this role
Following a significant investment in our CNC and Weld Cladding facility, NOV is expanding its machining capability to bring more specialist repair work in-house. This role offers the opportunity to work on complex repair and reconditioning projects for high-pressure valves, bonnets, doors and other critical well control components, supporting faster turnaround times, improved quality and greater operational efficiency. Working as part of a small, experienced machining team, you will take ownership of precision machining activities from setup through to finished component inspection. The role is primarily CNC focused, with opportunities to apply manual machining skills where required and contribute to continuous improvement within a growing workshop. The position operates on a rotating early and back shift pattern following an initial training and onboarding period. Why Join NOV? • Set up, operate and maintain CNC machining centres to repair, modify and restore critical well control components. • Program, edit and optimise CNC programs where applicable to achieve safe, accurate and efficient machining operations. • Interpret engineering drawings, specifications and work instructions to manufacture components to tight tolerances. • Inspect incoming components, assess repair requirements and verify finished dimensions using precision measuring equipment. • Select appropriate tooling, machining methods and cutting parameters to maximise machining quality and efficiency. • Produce high-quality repair work that meets NOV and customer quality standards. • Maintain accurate production, inspection and quality documentation throughout the repair process. • Work closely with supervisors and workshop personnel to prioritise work, minimise downtime and improve workshop performance. • Ensure machinery, tooling and measuring equipment are maintained and used safely. • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and maintain a safe, clean and organised working environment.
Essential
• Proven experience operating CNC machining centres within a precision engineering or manufacturing environment. • Strong ability to interpret engineering drawings and machine components to tight tolerances. • Recent machining experience using CNC and/or manual machining equipment. • Good understanding of machining processes, tooling and precision measurement techniques. • Experience using measuring equipment such as micrometers, verniers and gauges. • Mechanical Engineering, Machining or related qualification, or equivalent practical machining experience. • Commitment to quality, safety and continuous improvement. • Willingness to work a rotating early and back shift pattern. • Time-served apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering or Machining. • Experience programming CNC machines using Fanuc, Mazak or Siemens controls. • Experience repairing and reconditioning components rather than high-volume production machining. • Experience operating horizontal boring machines or similar large CNC equipment. • Manual machining experience. • Experience within oil & gas, energy or other heavy engineering environments.
