About this role
Legal Assistant
Full-time · Remote · Reports to VP Legal & Advocacy
Real artists. Real work. The legal foundation that makes it all possible.
Stocksy is an artist-led visual media co-operative with over 1,800 co-owner artists around the world — photographers, videographers, illustrators — who make work that premium brands trust. Our artists don't just contribute content; they own the company. Same goes with our staff - we are a small and fiercely committed group of co-owners that work to keep the business thriving. Our Legal team aims to provide outstanding legal value to our membership and our clients, and running an effective and efficient legal machine takes people who are as organized as they are detail-oriented.
We're looking for a Legal Assistant to take on a range of tasks that keep our legal operations moving — process-driven, detail-oriented, and often sensitive. What matters most is precision, discretion, and the ability to manage a varied workload without things falling through the cracks.
If you're early in your career and you're drawn to the intersection of administration, legal operations, and a creative industry that actually stands for something, this is that role.
Who you are
You're someone who finds satisfaction in keeping things orderly because you understand that the details matter. You're methodical and know how to work through a queue of tasks without losing focus or letting things slip. You're comfortable with repetition where it's needed and sharp enough to flag when something doesn't look right. Discretion comes naturally to you — you understand that some of what crosses your desk is sensitive, and you treat it accordingly.
You're probably early in your career and looking for a role where you can build real operational experience inside a company that's doing something genuinely different. A general background in legal, paralegal studies, or administration would serve you well here, but what matters most is that you're impeccably organized, proactive, dependable, and take quiet pride in work that's done properly.
What you bring
• Up to 3 years of experience in an administrative or operations role (legal-adjacent experience welcomed but not required)
• Experience working with project management software (Asana, Gitlab, or similar tools)
• Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
• Excellent discretion and care when handling sensitive information; experience working with confidential materials is a plus
• Comfort working independently in a remote environment
What you'll do
• Content management for Stocksy’s distribution partnerships via Adobe and Alamy, including content removals and sendback reconciliation
• Keep agreements organized and the legal filing system in excellent order
• Organize historical client contracts and develop plans/processes for ongoing updates
• Assist with governance activities and oversight, including member events, Board of Directors administration, Director appointments and elections, Stocksy’s resolution process, and other governance processes as required
• Assist with contract signing and finalization process, including chasing for signatures and contract completion steps
• General research to support legal determinations across the co-op (e.g. brand or trademark info gathering, location research
• Lead Sensitive Use approval process, working with clients and the sales team
• Support unauthorized use investigations and follow-up
• Manage account closure requests, including GDPR and related data removals.
• Provide Digital Media Leadership Alliance (“DMLA”) and DMLA Legal Committee support, including scheduling, meeting planning and prep, and tracking requests and relevant information
• Providing scheduling, travel, and reimbursement support for Stocksy’s CEO
• Work closely with VP Legal & Advocacy to triage incoming requests across channels
• Track deadlines, timelines, and contract renewals
