The Role
REV Ocean is seeking a motivated and technically skilled ROV Pilot to join our subsea operations team and operate our Kystdesign Supporter 6000 work-class ROV system.
This is a hands-on offshore position requiring solid operational and technical competence with work-class ROV systems. The successful candidate will pilot the ROV and maintain the system during scientific expeditions and subsea missions worldwide, reporting to the Subsea Supervisor.
Our operations differ from conventional inspection and construction campaigns. The ROV will support complex scientific missions, ultra-deepwater exploration, sampling, survey operations, deployment and recovery of scientific equipment, subsea intervention and integration of specialised third-party sensors and tooling.
Key Responsibilities
As ROV Pilot, you will:
• Pilot and operate the Kystdesign Supporter 6000 ROV and TMS during scientific and subsea operations.
• Operate manipulators, subsea tooling, cameras and scientific sampling equipment with precision and care.
• Report to the Subsea Supervisor and execute dives in accordance with dive plans, procedures and operational limits.
• Participate in pre-dive planning, toolbox talks, risk assessments and operational briefings.
• Carry out launch and recovery operations through moonpool as part of the ROV team.
• Monitor ROV, TMS, LARS and associated system status throughout operations and report deviations immediately to the Subsea Supervisor.
• Complete and document pre-dive and post-dive checks.
• Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on the ROV, TMS, LARS and workshop equipment.
• Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, hydraulic, mechanical, fibre-optic, control and communication systems.
• Assist in fault diagnosis and technical repairs to minimise operational downtime.
• Contribute to keeping the ROV and associated systems mission-ready at all times.
• Support integration, testing and operation of scientific sensors, survey equipment, scientific tooling and third-party subsea equipment.
• Support equipment mobilisation, system testing, commissioning and demobilisation activities.
• Maintain accurate dive logs, maintenance records and technical documentation.
• Maintain high standards of operational discipline, housekeeping and equipment care.
• Work in close cooperation with the science team, bridge, vessel management and other operational departments.
• Ensure work complies with company procedures, applicable regulatory requirements and relevant IMCA guidance and recommended practices.
• Promote a strong safety culture and exercise Stop Work Authority whenever required.
Required Qualifications and experience
Candidates should have:
• Documented offshore experience as ROV Pilot / ROV Pilot Technician on work-class ROV systems.
• IMCA competence assurance and assessment (or equivalent documented competence) at ROV Pilot Technician Grade II level or higher.
• Practical understanding of work-class ROV systems.
• Experience with work-class ROV launch and recovery systems, TMS and winch systems.
• Fault-finding competence within electrical/electronic, mechanical, hydraulic and fiber-optic systems.
• Experience with subsea tooling, manipulators and integration of third-party equipment and sensors.
• Good understanding of offshore HSE requirements, risk assessments, toolbox talks and permit-to-work systems.
• Relevant technical education, trade certificate or equivalent documented technical competence.
• Valid offshore medical certificate and applicable offshore safety certification (BOSIET/FOET, STCW or equivalent as required).
• Good written and spoken English.
• Ability to work effectively within an international and multidisciplinary offshore team.

• Ultra-deepwater ROV operations
• Operations at depths approaching 6,000 meters
• Launch and Recovery through Moonpool
• Scientific or research ROV operations
• Deep-sea sampling and biological/geological collection
• Operations requiring extensive use of manipulators, as well as precision flying.
• Scientific sensor and instrument integration
• High-resolution subsea imaging systems
• Multibeam, sonar and subsea survey operations
• Deployment and recovery of scientific landers and instrumentation
• Complex subsea tooling
• ROV operations in Arctic, Antarctic or other remote environments
• Offshore mobilisation, commissioning and system acceptance testing
