Position Summary:
As the learning leader responsible for the overall quality of curriculum, teaching and learning, this role leads and manages the Performing Arts department by:
• Ensuring the Learning and Teaching Principles and Practices are at the forefront of the learning environment.
• Ensuring that teaching and learning promote curiosity and the love of the subject
• Developing processes and procedures to ensure that the quality of learning and achievement is monitored, evaluated and shared.
• Using student and cohort data to improve learning and teaching
• Monitoring the quality and consistency of student assessment feedback and reporting
• Ensuring that the PreK-12 curriculum is fully articulated in terms of content, skills and concepts, and accurately recorded
• Directing the team’s focus on the teaching and assessment of ATL skills
• Supporting the performing arts team, including faculty and support staff
• Enriching student learning through appropriate trips and visits, co-curricular activities, and other special events
• Providing guidance and mentorship for new teachers, and ongoing support for other team members
• Fostering and facilitating professional learning opportunities for team members
• Working with the Principal to oversee the annual Teacher Professional Growth Plan (TPGP) for team members
• Managing the departmental budget to ensure resources are used effectively to enhance student learning
• Attending coordinator, strand and divisional planning meetings throughout the year to ensure collaboration with other curriculum leaders
