Accounting Associate
Dana-co, a women’s intimate apparel company, is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Accounting Associate to join our finance team. This position is ideal for someone with hands-on accounting experience in a small or midsize company who enjoys managing day-to-day transactions, maintaining accurate records, and supporting a variety of accounting functions.
The Accounting Associate will work closely with members of the finance team in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Because we operate with a lean team, the successful candidate will be organized, flexible, and comfortable assisting wherever needed. This is a strong opportunity for someone seeking stability and long-term growth within an in-house accounting department.
Location
Midtown Manhattan, near the Empire State Building. This is an in-office position.
Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Responsibilities
• Process and accurately record routine accounting transactions.
• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
• Review invoices and supporting documentation for accuracy and proper approval.
• Prepare and maintain accounting schedules, spreadsheets, and financial records.
• Reconcile bank, credit card, vendor, and other assigned accounts.
• Research and help resolve discrepancies in accounts, invoices, and payments.
• Assist with journal entries and month-end closing activities.
• Support the preparation of internal financial reports and audit documentation.
• Maintain organized electronic and physical accounting files.
• Perform data entry and provide administrative support to the finance department.
• Communicate with internal departments and external vendors regarding accounting matters.
• Handle confidential financial information with discretion and integrity.
• Participate in special projects and perform additional duties as needed.
Qualifications
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field.
• One to three years of accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, or similar experience.
• Experience working within a small or midsize company is strongly preferred.
• Basic understanding of accounting principles, reconciliations, and financial recordkeeping.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including formulas, sorting, filtering, and organizing financial data.
• Experience using accounting or ERP software; QuickBooks or similar system experience is a plus.
• Strong numerical skills and the ability to identify discrepancies.
• High level of accuracy, efficiency, and accountability.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Willingness to perform both detailed accounting work and routine administrative tasks.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.
