Laboratory Technician – All-rounder Casual Christchurch

About the role | Mō te tūranga: We are seeking a Laboratory Technician to join our Christchurch laboratory in a casual position, working across a range of laboratory disciplines as required.
Reporting to the Laboratory Manager, you will contribute to a culture of continuous improvement while helping deliver a high-quality, efficient service to both internal teams and external clients.
This is a varied role that will provide support across the laboratory, with duties dependent on operational requirements and your skills and experience. You may work across areas including Specimen Reception, Microbiology, Haematology, Biochemistry and histology.
The role requires strong attention to detail, a willingness to learn and the ability to adapt to changing priorities. You will work closely with colleagues across the laboratory to ensure the smooth running of daily operations and the accurate and timely processing of samples.
A professional, friendly and solution-focused approach is essential, along with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
• Work across various laboratory disciplines, providing support where required to meet daily operational needs.
• Receive, process and prepare laboratory samples accurately and efficiently in accordance with established procedures.
• Support laboratory departments during periods of increased workload or staff leave.
• Support a culture of quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
• Ensure all tasks are completed in line with laboratory protocols and standards.

• Is adaptable and enjoys working across different areas of a laboratory.
• Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and professional attitude.
• Is well-organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks and respond to changing operational requirements.
• Is willing to learn new skills and develop their knowledge across different laboratory disciplines
• Confident using computer systems and technology.
• Has flexibility and availability to work during weekdays, with the ability to pick up shifts as required.
• Brings a positive, energetic, and proactive approach to work.
• Eligibility to work in New Zealand.
