About this role
Job Requirements Core responsibilities
• Generating Technical Drawings: Create precise and detailed technical drawings using AutoCAD software for various aspects of oil and gas projects, including: • P&IDs (Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams): Illustrating the functional relationships of piping, instrumentation, and system components. • PFDs (Process Flow Diagrams): Representing the overall flow of processes within a plant or facility. • Isometric Piping Drawings: Providing a 3D view of piping systems to aid in installation and construction. • Equipment Layout and General Arrangement (GA) Drawings: Showing the spatial arrangement of equipment and major components within a facility. • Civil and Structural Drawings: Depicting foundations, supports, and other civil structures supporting oil and gas installations. • Detailed Piping Drawings, including spool drawings for fabrication. • As-Built Drawings: Capturing the final configuration of a system after construction is complete. • Collaboration and Design Coordination: Collaborate closely with engineers (mechanical, civil, process, instrumentation), project managers, and other stakeholders to understand design specifications, requirements, and revisions, ensuring accuracy and consistency across disciplines. • Adherence to Standards and Regulations: Ensure that all drawings adhere to relevant oil and gas industry standards, codes, and regulations. • This may include Industry specific standards such as OISD and those for layouts of oil and gas installations. • Also, Petroleum standards for pipelines covering design, materials, installation, testing, and safety. • Adherence to ASME B31.3, B31.4 requirements for Piping and pipeline design and material specifications. • Incorporate safety features like automatic shut-off valves, and intrinsically safe systems to prevent ignition in hazardous environments. • Documentation and Quality Control: Maintain organized records of all drawings and revisions, implement robust version control, and conduct thorough quality checks to ensure drawings are accurate, error-free, and meet project requirements and deadlines.
Work Experience
• Soft Skills and Abilities: • Attention to Detail: Meticulous approach to creating accurate and precise technical drawings. • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to analyze design challenges, identify potential solutions, and apply engineering principles to resolve issues. • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Effectively communicate with engineers, project managers, and other team members, including clear verbal and written communication, according to Elegrow. • Time Management and Organization: Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet tight deadlines. • Adaptability and Continuous Learning: Stay updated on AutoCAD software updates, industry best practices, and new technologies. • Education and Experience: • Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Drafting, Engineering, or a related field. • 2+ years of experience as an AutoCAD drafter, preferably in the oil and gas or related industries (design/EPC/petrochemical/water). • Professional certification in Computer-Aided Design may be advantageous. Additional desirable skills
• Experience with specific software used in the oil and gas industry, such as CADWorx, SmartPlant, AutoPLANT, and PDMS. • Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) concepts and tools like Revit and Navisworks. • Familiarity with document management systems (DMS) such as ProjectWise and ACONEX. • Understanding of relevant building codes and regulations in the specific region of operation. • Awareness of safety protocols, hazard assessments, and risk mitigation strategies in oil and gas operations.
