Job Highlights The Medical Patient Intervention Unit (MPIU), also known internally as Hospitalist 6 (HSP6), is a 14-bed acute care hospitalist unit. This newer unit provides care for patients suffering from a psychiatric disorder with a concurrent medical condition that requires additional treatment. Nurses work as part of an interdisciplinary team to care for a variety of patients, including: psychiatric patients with varying medical conditions, including uncontrolled diabetes, heart failure, and acute kidney injury; patients suffering from the effects of coexisting severe mental illnesses, including acute psychosis or encephalopathy and toxic ingestions; and, patients with degenerative diseases like Huntington's disease or a traumatic brain injury. Job Description To perform a variety of clerical tasks in support of nursing services of an assigned patient care unit. To effectively interact with patients, visitor's and other members of the patient care team in order to support the delivery of quality patient care. To interpret and comply with departmental policies and procedures. Qualifications High School diploma or GED required.
