The ideal candidate will provide essential support to nursing staff by delivering high-quality patient care and assisting with clinical and non-clinical tasks. This role is vital in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and well-being within a fast-paced hospital environment. **Responsibilities:** - Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility. - Monitor and record vital signs such as temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure accurately. - Support nursing staff with patient care procedures and clinical tasks as directed. - Ensure patient rooms and equipment are clean, organized, and properly maintained. - Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members to provide updates and address concerns. - Assist with patient transport within the facility as needed. - Observe and report any changes in patient condition or behavior to the nursing staff promptly. - Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, and safety protocols to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff. - Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain competency and improve patient care skills. Work Experience **Job Title:** Patient Care Technician I **Location:** UM BWMC, Glen Burnie, Maryland-7 West Medical Surgical Unit **Job Type:** Full Time **Job Requirements:** - **Education & Certification:** - High school diploma or equivalent required. - Certification as a Patient Care Technician (PCT) or Nursing Assistant (CNA) preferred. - **Experience:** - Previous experience in a healthcare setting, preferably in acute care or hospital environment. - Experience assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, and mobility. - **Skills:** - Strong patient care skills with the ability to provide compassionate and respectful support. - Proficient in taking and recording vital signs accurately. - Ability to perform basic clinical tasks such as EKGs, phlebotomy, and specimen collection (if applicable). - Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members. - Ability to follow established protocols and maintain patient confidentiality in compliance with HIPAA regulations. - Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. - Basic computer skills for documentation and electronic health record (EHR) usage. - **Physical Requirements:** - Ability to stand, walk, and assist patients for extended periods. - Capability to lift or move patients as needed, following proper safety procedures. - **Other Requirements:** - Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality care. - Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, as required.
