The ideal candidate will demonstrate advanced patient care skills, strong communication abilities, and a commitment to supporting the multidisciplinary healthcare team in a fast-paced medical surgical environment. **Responsibilities:** - Provide direct patient care under the supervision of registered nurses, including vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, and assisting with activities of daily living. - Assist with patient mobility and positioning to prevent complications and promote comfort. - Monitor and report changes in patient condition promptly to nursing staff. - Support nursing staff with clinical procedures and documentation as required. - Maintain a clean, safe, and organized patient environment in compliance with hospital policies and infection control standards. - Facilitate effective communication between patients, families, and healthcare team members. - Assist with the preparation and transport of patients for diagnostic tests and procedures. - Participate in patient education and discharge planning as directed. - Adhere to all hospital protocols, safety guidelines, and regulatory requirements. - Demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and respect in all patient interactions. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care, support nursing staff, and ensure a safe and comfortable environment for patients. **Key Responsibilities:** - Assist patients with activities of daily living including hygiene, mobility, and feeding - Monitor and record vital signs accurately and report any changes to nursing staff - Support nursing staff with clinical tasks and patient care procedures - Maintain cleanliness and safety of patient rooms and equipment - Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team members - Assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges as needed - Adhere to hospital policies, procedures, and infection control standards **Required Skills and Experience:** - Proven experience as a Patient Care Technician or similar role, preferably in a medical-surgical setting - Strong knowledge of patient care techniques and clinical procedures - Ability to accurately measure and document vital signs and patient information - Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required - Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems is a plus - High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a Patient Care Technician training program preferred Join our team at UM BWMC and contribute to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care in a supportive and professional environment.
