The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care and support to nursing staff, ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for our patients. This role requires strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced hospital setting. **Responsibilities:** - Assist patients with activities of daily living including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding as needed. - Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, temperature, pulse, and respiration accurately and timely. - Support nursing staff with patient assessments and report any changes in patient condition promptly. - Assist with patient mobility, including turning, repositioning, and ambulation to prevent complications such as pressure ulcers. - Prepare and maintain patient rooms, ensuring cleanliness and readiness for new admissions. - Collect specimens and perform basic laboratory tests as directed by nursing staff. - Operate and maintain medical equipment safely and according to hospital protocols. - Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families. - Adhere to infection control policies and safety procedures to maintain a safe environment for patients and staff. - Document all patient care activities accurately in the medical record system. - Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary team members to deliver comprehensive patient care. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care, assist nursing staff, and support the overall patient experience in a fast-paced clinical environment. **Job Requirements:** - **Skills:** - Proficient in basic patient care techniques including vital signs monitoring, specimen collection, and patient hygiene assistance - Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members - Ability to accurately document patient information and observations in compliance with hospital protocols - Competent in using medical equipment relevant to patient care duties - Excellent organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a dynamic environment - Demonstrated ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations - **Experience:** - Minimum of 1-2 years of experience as a Patient Care Technician or in a similar patient support role within a hospital or clinical setting - Experience working with diverse patient populations, including adult and geriatric patients - Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems preferred - Certification as a Patient Care Technician, Nursing Assistant, or equivalent is required - Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification is a plus UM BWMC offers a collaborative work environment with opportunities for professional growth.
