Job Title: Material HandlerJob DescriptionWe are seeking a dedicated Material Handler to efficiently manage materials within our production and warehouse/shipping areas. This role involves operating both sit-down and stand-up forklifts, ensuring that materials are moved seamlessly from production lines to inventory, docks, and vice versa. The position requires a proactive individual who can stage, stack, and wrap pallets, load and unload trucks, and prepare products for shipment. Responsibilities • Operate sit-down and stand-up forklifts to move materials. • Gather inventory and deliver it to production lines. • Transport materials from docks to inventory and from lines to docks. • Stage, stack, and wrap pallets for shipment. • Prepare products for shipment and load/unload trucks. • Utilize stand-up forklifts to pick orders efficiently. Essential Skills • 2+ years of experience operating sit-down forklifts. • 2+ years of experience with stand-up forklifts. • Proficiency in using RF scanners for inventory management. • Ability to load and unload trucks effectively. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in chemical, oil, or food manufacturing is a plus. • Strong multi-tasking abilities. • Labor experience in material handling is beneficial. Work EnvironmentThe Alsip facility is modern, very clean, and temperature controlled, with a focus on safety and organization. It has a smaller workforce with remodeled features from the last decade. The Chicago Heights facility, while not as new, is also temperature controlled with a larger workforce. It can be bustling due to its extensive lines and production activities, with security checkpoints and multiple break rooms. Both facilities handle non-harmful chemicals and maintain organized operations. Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Alsip, IL. Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $18.25 - $19.35/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
