Biomedical Fieldworker (Healthcare / Phlebotomy) Pay: Average £20.40 per hour + mileage | Location: Various UK Locations | Flexible Hours | Bonus: Up to £750 Looking for a flexible healthcare role where you can use your clinical and venepuncture skills while making a genuine difference? Join NatCen as a Biomedical Fieldworker and help deliver some of the UK's most important health research studies. Your work will contribute to national surveys that inform public health policy, improve healthcare services and provide valuable insights into the nation's health and wellbeing. As a Biomedical Fieldworker, you'll visit participants in their homes to collect health information and blood samples as part of nationally recognised health surveys. All appointments are pre-arranged. Visit length will vary by study, with newer studies planned for 2027 expected to test an average visit length of around 30 minutes. You will work independently, meet a variety of people in your local community and manage your own diary within set guidelines and deadlines. What You'll Be Doing Visiting participants in their homes at pre-booked appointments Taking physical measurements such as height, weight and blood pressure Collecting venous blood samples in line with clinical guidelines Recording accurate health data and maintaining confidentiality Providing a professional, friendly and reassuring experience for participants Supporting high quality research that influences public health decisions What We're Looking For We're looking for healthcare professionals who are confident, reliable and enjoy working independently in the community. Experience within a healthcare or clinical setting Registered healthcare professional status is advantageous but not essential Proven venepuncture experience within the last 24 months Evidence of current Hepatitis B immunity A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle Willingness to travel across your assigned work area, typically within around 60 to 90 minutes of the advertised location A reliable home broadband connection Availability of approximately 12 to 16 hours per week across weekdays, evenings and weekends Strong communication and interpersonal skills Confidence working alone and managing your own diary within set guidelines and deadlines The right to work in the UK Willingness to complete the required vetting process, including a DBS check Pay and Benefits Average earnings of £20.40 per hour whilst conducting participant visits Up to £750 in performance bonuses for your first 36 completed productive visits (£250 for each group of 12) Mileage reimbursement at 36p per mile Holiday pay at 12.1% Flexible working hours, with the ability to manage your own diary within set guidelines and deadlines Comprehensive training and ongoing support Why Join NatCen?
