About the Position Animal Emergency & Specialty Center of Chattanooga (AESC) is looking for a compassionate, dependable, and motivated Veterinary Triage Assistant to join our overnight emergency team! This is a full-time position working Monday–Thursday 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM. This is an excellent opportunity for a Veterinary Assistant, Veterinary Technician Assistant, animal care professional, or someone looking to begin or grow a career in emergency veterinary medicine. Previous veterinary experience is preferred but not required. Veterinary assistant experience, animal hospital experience, kennel experience, shelter experience, animal care experience, or other hands-on experience working with animals is a plus. We are willing to train the right candidate who brings a strong work ethic, positive attitude, willingness to learn, and genuine passion for helping animals. As a Veterinary Triage Assistant, you will play an important role in helping our emergency team quickly assess incoming patients, support veterinarians and veterinary technicians, and provide compassionate care to patients and their families. Triage incoming emergency veterinary patients and help identify patients requiring immediate attention Obtain and document patient histories and vital signs Safely restrain patients for examinations, diagnostics, and procedures Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with diagnostics, treatments, and patient care Prepare and dispense medications as directed Monitor and support patients throughout their visit Communicate with pet owners and provide compassionate, professional customer service Demonstrate empathy and emotional intelligence when supporting clients during stressful or emotional situations Maintain clean, organized, and properly stocked treatment and patient care areas Clean and sanitize equipment and hospital areas Work collaboratively with veterinarians, veterinary technicians, assistants, and client service team members Help maintain an efficient workflow in a fast-paced 24-hour emergency veterinary hospital
