About this role

Job summary

An opportunity has arisen for a position within the Emergency Department ( ED) as a Patient Co Ordinator joining our supportive and friendly team. This vacancy will involve working a shift pattern covering a variety of shifts to include days, nights, evenings and weekends. We are looking for an individual who is flexible and has excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work under pressure in an extremely busy department and consistently work to a high standard of efficiency. Previous ED experience is not essential as full training will be given.

Main duties of the job

The Post Holder is responsible for updating Careflow so that the system accurately shows the position of the Department .

Track patients through the Department and remove patients from the computer system in a timely manner.

Communicate with all levels of hospital staff , outside agencies and members of the public in a professional and effective manner

Qualifications Essential

good standard of education to GCSE level or equivalent including numeracy and literacy skills NVQ level 3 in Health and Social Care or relevant hospital experience

knowledge and experience Essential

experience of team working knowledge of administrative procedures knowledge of GDPR (data protection) and how to apply

Desirable

experience of working in Emergency Dept good working knowledge of hospital systems including Medway

skills Essential

demonstrate ability to use own initiative able to work under pressure able to communicate effectively with colleagues, service users and their families/carers

Desirable

able to escalate issues of concern to senior members of staff
