Job summary
We are seeking an experienced manager who can support the day to day running of services across a range of teams within the Borough of Wandsworth. The post holder will be expected to provide visible leadership as part of a senior leadership team working to the Clinical Manager of the service. The post is 5 days a week, 37.5hrs, Mon-Friday.

Main duties of the job
The Deputy Clinical Manager will support the Clinical Manager in the operational leadership, performance oversight, and quality delivery of mental health and social care services within the Service Line(s). The role provides day to day management, coordination, and problem-solving support to ensure safe, effective, compassionate services aligned with Trust values.

1. Communication and Relationship Skills
Communicate highly complex, sensitive and sometimes contentious information to staff, service users, carers, senior managers and partner organisations.
Chair and participate in meetings, governance forums, case reviews and service development groups.
Use negotiation, influencing and conflict resolution skills to gain agreement on service improvements, workforce issues and quality initiatives.
Develop and maintain productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support delivery of service objectives.
2. Knowledge, Training and Experience
Registered healthcare professional with a degree-level qualification and current professional registration.
Extensive experience within mental health services, including leadership and operational management responsibilities.
Specialist knowledge of clinical governance, safeguarding, quality improvement, performance management and community mental health services.
Demonstrates ongoing professional development and application of evidence-based practice.
3. Analytical and Judgemental Skills
Analyse complex clinical, operational and workforce information to support decision making.
Interpret performance, quality and risk information and identify areas requiring improvement.
Exercise sound judgement when responding to incidents, safeguarding concerns, complaints and service pressures.
Develop solutions where information may be incomplete or conflicting.
4. Planning and Organisational Skills
Plan and coordinate a range of operational, quality improvement and workforce activities across services.

Person Specification
Training & Qualifications Essential
Professional qualification in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work, Psychology or other registered healthcare profession. Current registration with the relevant professional body (NMC, HCPC, Social Work England or equivalent). Educated to degree level or equivalent professional qualification/experience. Evidence of substantial post-registration continuing professional development (CPD).
Desirable
Master's degree or equivalent postgraduate qualification in Healthcare Leadership, Management, Mental Health, Quality Improvement or a related field. ILM Level 5/7, NHS Leadership Academy qualification or equivalent leadership programme. Quality Improvement qualification (e.g. QI Practitioner, Lean, Model for Improvement).
Experience Essential
Significant experience working within Adult Mental Health Services. Experience of managing or leading multidisciplinary community mental health teams Experience of operational performance management within NHS services. Experience of leading service development and quality improvement initiatives. Experience of managing clinical governance, safeguarding and risk.
Desirable
Experience within Community Mental Health Transformation programmes. Experience of integrated health and social care services. Experience working with Primary Care Networks and community partnerships.
Knowledge & Skills Essential
Detailed understanding of Adult Community Mental Health pathways. Knowledge of the Community Mental Health Framework for Adults and Older Adults. Understanding of Care Programme Approach principles and recovery-focused practice Understanding of safeguarding adults legislation and Mental Health Act principles. Strong knowledge of NHS operational and performance frameworks.
Desirable
Knowledge of population health management approaches. Understanding of neighbourhood-based models of care.
