Job summary

Shevington Surgery is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic Physician Associate to join our friendly and supportive clinical team.

We are looking for a Physician Associate with a minimum of 2 years' experience working in secondary care who is looking to develop their career within General Practice and Primary Care.

Previous experience in General Practice is preferred but not essential. We welcome applications from candidates with a strong secondary-care background who are keen to develop their knowledge and experience within a busy Primary Care setting.

The successful candidate will be fully supported by our 7 Partners, who have extensive experience in training, education and developing clinicians. You will have access to regular clinical support, supervision and guidance as you develop your Primary Care skills.

You will also be joining an established team of two Physician Associates already working within the practice, providing an excellent opportunity for peer support, shared learning and collaboration.

Main duties of the job

The Physician Associate will work as part of the multidisciplinary clinical team, providing high-quality care to patients presenting with a broad range of acute and chronic conditions.

Duties will include:

Assessing, diagnosing and managing patients within the Physician Associate scope of practice.Taking comprehensive clinical histories and performing appropriate clinical examinations.Developing and implementing appropriate management plans.Managing patients with a range of acute and chronic conditions.Recognising and appropriately escalating patients who require further assessment or specialist intervention.Working collaboratively with GPs, Practice Nurses, Paramedics, Physician Associates and other members of the multidisciplinary team.Supporting the delivery of safe and effective patient care within the practice.Undertaking appropriate follow-up and review of patients.Contributing to clinical audits, quality improvement and service development.Maintaining accurate and timely clinical records.Participating in continuing professional development and supervision.Undertaking home visits where required.Working within professional, ethical and practice guidelines at all times.The role will provide an excellent opportunity for a Physician Associate to develop their Primary Care experience within a highly supportive clinical and educational environment.

We have 7 GP Partners, 2 Physician Associates and a strong, friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team.
