An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Band 4 Endoscopy Decontamination Supervisor to join the Endoscopy Team at Macclesfield Hospital. This permanent position offers 37.5 hours per week and plays a key role in ensuring the safe, effective, and compliant delivery of decontamination services that support the Endoscopy Unit.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising the day-to-day operation of the decontamination service, maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, and supporting the development of the decontamination workforce. The post supports a 6-day service operating between 8:00am and 7:00pm, and the postholder will also participate in the out-of-hours emergency on-call rota to ensure continuity of service provision.

Main duties of the job
To participate and lead effectively the preparation, maintenance, cleaning and disinfecting of all equipment To decontaminate all equipment after each procedure. To handle hazardous chemicals on a daily basis according to C.O.S.H.H. guidelines and Trust policies. To ensure adequate supplies of decontamination disposables. To ensure maintenance contracts are in place and updated as required To ensure decontamination guidelines are adhered to and updated in conjunction with BSG guidelines. To develop protocols for a variety of decontamination activities e.g. sending endoscopes for repair. Develop an education tool on the importance of decontamination Ensure maintenance and testing of AEDs and endoscopes is performed as scheduled Perform audits as necessary To participate in the 24 hours on call service Research/Training and Development.
Assist in the development of competencies for decontamination. Participate in the training and assessment of endoscopy technicians.
Specific requirements regarding J.A.G accreditation:
To provide knowledge of JAG requirements. To manage and develop the monitoring structure to ensure all JAG requirements are achieved. Undertake audit work.
