About this role

Job summary

The Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) is responsible for deliveryof holistic, patient-centred care, which is planned and directed byhealth care professionals, and to support the nursing team in thedelivery patient care which is safe and effective and in accordancewith the Trusts values and behaviours.The post holder is fundamental to providing care to patient's, carersand relatives at Airedale NHS Foundation Trust

Main duties of the job

Key ResponsibilitiesUnderstanding your role:o Working under the direction of a registrant, participate fully in thedelivery of planned nursing care, within the boundaries of your rolewhich may include chaperoning of patients, escorting/ transferringof patients and providing 1-1 patient centred care or caring for aenhanced care risk assessment.o Orders supplies under the direction of the nurse in charge.o Participate in general cleanliness and tidiness of the environment.o Undertake mandatory training and role specific training relevant torole.o Prioritises own workload.o Work collaboratively with others in the care setting to ensure thatpatients' needs are met.o Use social media as per Trust policy and procedure.o Maintain the confidentiality of patient information at all timeso As part of your employment with the Trust, you are bound by thepolicies and procedures within the organisation and the wider NHS

Person Specification

Attributes Qualifications & Professional Training Essential

Possess or be willing to work towards the care certificate Be able to demonstrate basic literacy and numeracy skills required for the post

Desirable

Level 2 diploma in Health and Social Care Functional skills level 1 numeracy Functional skills level 1 literacy

Experience & Achievements Desirable

Experience of working in a formal care setting or as an informal carer Previous experience of dealing with the public

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Essential

Understanding of what 'confidentiality' is and how you put into practice Good listening, written and verbal communication skills Be well organised happy to work in a team but also able to use own initiative Able to follow direct instructions Understanding of equality and diversity and how you put it into practice
